Tallgrass

Since the Tallgrass property was sandwiched between two existing neighborhoods on three, working with different sides the neighborhood groups was imperative. Also being in the midst of one of the biggest droughts in Denver’s history dictated some unique design solutions as well.

Centre created the landscape design with water conservation in mind — hence the name Tallgrass, because there are a lot of tall grasses for streetscape here as opposed to lawns. The irrigation system was state-of-the-art (at that time), with computer operated remote sensors to monitor how much water was used.  Centre worked extensively with the surrounding neighbors — and across several jurisdictions (Aurora was on one side, with unincorporated Arapahoe County on the other) to accomplish their goals.

Centre also worked closely with their land planner to create a new way of designing home lots along collector streets. Using this “loop lane” concept, houses were turned towards the collector to eliminate “fence canyons” and make way for decidedly more kid-friendly front yards.
